Frankly, even though almost everyone I know blogs...from my overexcited new mum friends to tweeny cousins.......all this while, I've felt that blogs are a WASTE OF TIME. I mean....does everyone really need to know that you cut your toenails today?? Or that you hate onions?? WTF?!?!
Well amidst the growing madness of my wedding prep, I thought, OK let's give it a shot. Use this space to rant and rave. You see, my dear reader, I have become a victim of MAD BRIDE DISEASE!!!! ARRRRRGGGGH!
This ailment creeps slowly into your system the very second that you choose your wedding gown. Over the months, it sneakily overpowers your enitre being.....and as the day of your wedding draws nearer and nearer, U go crazy! Scream! Weep! Toss in bed and pull out your hair.....all over the minutest of details!
THE FAT BRIDE CONSPIRACY
Went for the 2nd final fitting of my wedding dress and evening gown on Sat. Our photoshoot is on 31 Jan, just one week away.
BTW this is the design I chose.

TO MY UTTER HORROR and DISMAY, the gowns were TIGHT!!!!! During the last fitting that I had in Dec, they were too loose and a lot had to be taken in. But I think they took in TOO MUCH!!
Yeah sure the dresses look fab when U are STANDING UP, but I tried to sit down and I COULDN'T BREATHE!!! GASP! (and turn blue). HOW could this happen??????? These are MADE TO MEASURE gowns, meaning, they are supposed to be tailored to FIT ME NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaccccccccckkkkks!
I asked Kenny (my designer) and Suzanne (bridal shop owner) to have them let out, but they said the dresses wouldn't look nice for the photoshoot if they were not VERY FITTING. They said they can let it out AFTER the photoshoot.
GEE GOLLY GOSH! That doesn't make sense at all! Too tight dress = can't breathe = can't smile for the camera = bad photos!
THIS IS WHERE THE FAT BRIDE CONSPIRACY COMES IN
I was wailing to my sis-in-law Wendy about my dress woes and she said "making the dress too tight is a stupid thing all bridal shops do" I was shocked!! She said when she went for her penultimate fitting, she couldn't ZIP up her gown! And this is a girl who is THIN!!! WAS THIS TRUE??? Why do they do this??
Curious, I asked 3 friends who had gotten married in the last 2 years.......and they all said the same thing! Dress was too tight during the fitting! I'm shocked!
I was secretly cursing myself for choosing those designs.

LESSON TO ALL BRIDES TO BE - CHOOSE A GOWN you will be COMFORTABLE IN! If I had time to re-do my dress I WOULD! But the wedding is just 45 days away!!
I've NEVER wanted to be one of those brides who worries and fusses about looking PERFECT on her wedding day. I really just want to have FUN and enjoy what is to be the happiest day of my life. In ALL the weddings I've EVER attended.....it is SO RARE to see a bride who doesn't look stressed out. Only 2 weddings I've been to had really happy brides.......Zerline on her wedding day....the clever girl chose a very pretty, bought off the rack, short n swingy empire line dress from Forever 21 for her evening wear! And she had so much fun!
The other bride was Hugues sis Adeline, in France. She had so much fun dancing and laughing, and everyone was very relaxed and had a blast!
Back to the wedding dress. I was also quite disappointed that it didn't turn out exactly as I envisioned. I chose this very simple design - a soft French lace with clean, simple lines, no big poufy skirt - BECAUSE I LOVED THE SCALLOP details. But it turns out that the bridal shop couldn't do the scallops!! WAAAAAAAAAAH I was SO disappointed!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! MAD BRIDE DISEASE strikes again!

I have to admit that all the weddings I attended had brides complaining about their dresses being too tight, or brides that fasted for weeks in advance to actually fit in their dress. Not that this is important information, but I'm just hoping to be able to put the first comment in your blog...
