Jesus n Church - AIN'T THE SAME THING!

This is my friend Hal who was in Singapore last week, en route from Bali to the US.

I've known Hal for...what....17 years now. The first thing I said to him was, "Are U the boy from the Coca-Cola ad??" (Way back then, I had an enormous crush on the Coke boy....U know...the cute kid in the ad that goes.... "I'd like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony....")

Anyways, back to my friend Hal.

Hal is a happy man who lives in a very happy city called San Francisco - also happily married to another happy bloke, Jonathan. They had a beautiful wedding with lots and lots of lovely FLOWERS. SPEAKING OF FLOWERS......... it seems that I can't have ANY IN CHURCH FOR MY WEDDING!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sob sob sob sob!! (Mad Bride Disease strikes again)

And all because of a major dumbass rule which I've NEVER heard of until a few days ago. Apparently, 10 March 2007 falls during the season of LENT. And apparently, the powers that be (or maybe just this church) decree that the church can't be decorated with blooms! When I spoke to the chruch florist she said she'd use just LEAVES!!!

WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF!?!??!!?????!??!? I'M SURE JESUS LOVED FLOWERS! Being the hippy, one with nature kinda dude that he was.

Which just goes to show folks.....JESUS AND CHURCH really aren't ONE. Hey.....the guy was JEWISH to begin with! Ever thought about that? (Am reading this great book now by Kahil Gibran called "Jesus The Son of Man." The book gives really interesting perspectives to Jesus life on earth as a Man....weaknesses, desires, popularity etc...he was human after all. An ordinary Joe who grew into a cult figure....

Anyways, I am SO MAJORLY bummed by this whole lack of flowers for my wedding. Cos anyone who knows me, knows about my love affair with flowers.

My sweet old Dad (always wanting to make me happy) gallantly offered to sneak into the church just 2 hours before the wedding to stealthily place lots of flowers inside and tie them to the pews. He said it quite seriously and with a straight face!

Oh well.....when life gives U lemons.... Hmmmm.... maybe I could persuade the florist to use FRUIT as well. Apples, lemons, limes, oranges, grapes.....it would be pretty interesting to have!
